First Home Studio Portrait Photo Shoot

Recently, I had my first client visit my home photography studio. Jerrod reached out to me to have headshots made for his CPA business. He needed a headshot and a three-quarter length photo for his website. As per usual when setting up the details of any photo shoot, I always ask my clients where they would like to meet for their photo session. In this case, since this session was for headshots, I volunteered to drive out to his home/office or that he could also travel to my home studio in Vero Beach, Florida. As you might have guessed, Jerrod opted to come over to my studio.

When Jerrod arrived at my studio, I was able to have everything set up and ready for him. When I photograph headshots, I have a particular style and setup of lighting that I use. I also knew Jerrod needed a particular style of background, so I had that prepared ready as well. In this instance we needed a light gray background. I also like to give additional options, so I had a few other backgrounds ready to go as well. Basically, when Jerrod arrived in my studio, all he had to do was stand in front of my lighting setup and we were ready to shoot. We made a few adjustments during our photo session together in order to give us more variety to pick final images from.

After about 30 to 45 minutes or so we both felt we got all the images we needed for his business. Jerrod also had one more really nice perk in coming over to my studio. He was able to look through all his images directly after the photo shoot nice and big from my computer screen. I actually gave Jerrod full rein to flip through all the images at his leisure. I coached him through how I normally cull through images after a photo shoot. It can actually get a bit overwhelming going through so many images if you don't know what you're looking for. Teaching Jerrod my process helped us quickly narrow down our selection. It was also really nice being able to talk through all the images we liked and disliked, or why we liked certain images over other images. After a short time of flipping back and forth through pictures and comparing them side by side, we were able to make our final selection. I delivered Jerrod's completed high resolution, retouched, digital images one to two days later.

Here are Jerrod's selection of images:
